Our work with LinkedIn, the world’s largest professional social network, began in 2013, when the company had 3,000 employees. Acting as an extension of LinkedIn’s internal team, we enabled the company to open or expand 10 international locations—including its award-winning Dublin headquarters—in just 18 months. Today, LinkedIn has over 11,000 employees and offices in 30+ cities around the world.

The Challenge

The LinkedIn team was preparing to open or expand 10 international locations, including in Singapore, Sydney, Dubai, Mumbai, Munich, Stockholm, Beijing, Hong Kong, Sao Paulo, Milan, and a new international headquarters in Dublin. The Dublin project would involve a land assemblage development of 180,000 SF to accommodate up to 1,500 employees. But LinkedIn was scaling so quickly that they needed dedicated resources for the Dublin headquarters as well as other international expansion projects.


Our Approach

Working with LinkedIn, we created a services scope where T3 acted as an extension of the company’s workplace team. We helped manage every phase of the 18-month expansion project, acting as a representative for LinkedIn in deal negotiations, government incentives, vendor procurement, interface with abutters, and more.

For the Dublin headquarters, we structured a creative real estate transaction through land assemblage and owner’s representation by meeting with local government officials, neighbors, and others. We also supervised the project team from the planning process all the way through construction completion, and provided a personal approach by being constantly present in the Dublin market and truly acting as an extension of LinkedIn.

The team was simultaneously on the ground in other markets, taking the lead on sourcing buildings, evaluating project partners, and negotiating deals. Finally, we assisted in evaluating lease administration systems and introduced LinkedIn to Serraview, the company’s space management platform.

The Result

LinkedIn’s international expansion project ran smoothly with our help and oversight. The company’s new, award-winning Dublin HQ at Wilton Place currently houses 1,500 employees, half of them from outside Ireland. Designed and built to appeal to a diverse workforce, the EMEA headquarters building has helped LinkedIn grow successfully in the important European market.

And thanks to our software recommendations, LinkedIn is also now able to proactively and effectively manage its growing portfolio of workspaces and leases.
